After eleven years of service, Dr. James Hollis is retiring from the position of Executive Director of the C. C. Jung Educational Center of Houston, TX in order to return to full time practice as a Jungian analyst.  Accordingly, the Board of the Jung Center is looking to fill that leadership post beginning January, 2009.

The Executive Director is responsible for general administration, fiscal and fundraising oversight, teaching, curricular development, and community relationships. Preference will be given to Jungian analysts with managerial and communication skills; however, candidates with strong non-profit administrative experience will also be considered.   

The position is considered part time, although with full benefits, and allows time for private practice and other independent professional activities.  The Center allows use of the Executive Director’s office on its premises for such compatible, independent activities. The salary is competitive with other non-profits and is negotiable.

The Jung Center of Houston, currently celebrating its Fiftieth Anniversary, is a fiscally sound, community service organization in America’s fourth largest city, with a very active Board of Directors comprised of persons with diverse backgrounds and professional expertise and a competent staff of eight, offering over one hundred classes and programs each year as well as extensive outreach programs for Houstonians in need.   The Jung Center is located in the heart of the vibrant Museum District (www.houstonmuseumdistrict.org)and is a beautiful building in a beautiful setting. Additionally, the Jung Center manages two websites, has a vital bookstore and library, is a partner with Saybrook Graduate School of San Francisco (www.saybrook.edu)  in offering masters and doctorates in Jungian Studies, and holds a position of cultural significance in the larger Houston community. The Jung Center is chartered by the State of Texas for public education and does not itself engage in analytic training although it provides material support to the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts.

The Center seeks a person with strong teaching and communication skills, the ability to work with disparate groups, and a genuine interest in community service.  Managerial skills are important both for internal administration and for liaising with community organizations and outreach partners.   Moreover, the Director oversees financial management, development and marketing, personnel, and program building.
